When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

My hair is naturally a golden light brown, I think!! I haven't had my natural colour since I was about 14, and I turn 30 in May!! I start to grow it out, then I go right back and dye it dark brown again. This last time I dyed it, I chose a dye that turned my hair black. I hate looking in the mirror at my hair, it's just too dark. kick myself for doing it, but I go right back and do it again, and I think it's coz i just dont have the patience for the whole "growing out" procedure.

I often think about just shaving my head, and starting fresh but I know I don't have the guts to do it. How can I go back to my natural colour without doing something drastic?

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

TODAY :]

never dyed it, stayin natural

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

7th grade was the last time I saw my natural color. You should try Color Oops!. Buy it at Walgreens. It got rid of all the black in my hair. It might not restore your color completely since you've been dying it so long, but it will help.

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

instead of dying it dark next time try dying it back to a color close to your natural color, if you aren't sure let a little roots show then show them to your hairdresser so she can dye it close. this way when you're natural hair grows out you won't have obvious roots to drive you nuts.

you could also try a dye remover like "color oops"

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

let it fade..

i dyed mine strawberry blonde a couple years ago and within a few months it faded to my natural color.

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

My hair's been my natural color for the past 3 years.

When I decided to stop dying it, I just let it go through the ugly two-toned phase and kept getting haircuts until all the dyed hair was gone. It sounds terrible, but I didn't have a problem with it.

I've also shaved my head before, and honestly, it's not that bad. You should do it!

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

I have never dyed my hair permanently. Have dyed it pink, blue and purple a few times, but only temp.

If you are thinking of shaving your head, now is a great time. "The Worlds Greatest Shave" is coming up. You could help a lot of people by fundraising and donating to charity :)

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

When was the last time you saw your natural hair colour??

the best thing you can do is wait until you have a little bit of outgrowth and go to a hairstylist and see if they can remove the color. Here's an example of what can be be done, but everyone's experience is different. My cousin has a natural light golden brown hair color. I colored it darker to a dark auburn brown. The next month she wanted to go back to light so I had 2 options. One was to use an oxidative color remover and see how much of the color would come off and hope there wasn't anything scary under there or number two was to highlight her hair and let it grow out a little more. I highlighted it which hid the outgrowth a little and she was able to let it grow back to natural.

Neeed help with transitioning from relaxers to natural hair?

wat is the best way to do this? i need to get my hair healthy again becuz relaxer don't work on it anymore, but my hair is very short and gets hard to comb when it is natural. i do moisturize it, but are there any styling tips so my hair will be easier to comb and style?

Neeed help with transitioning from relaxers to natural hair?

While you are transtioning, I would suggest to style your hair in the style you want it in before it dries after a wash. You can use rollers if its long enough for that. If it's not, then as it grows you can put it in ponytails to dry or the rollers.

I am not sure what you moisturize with, but most products made for AA women are not even moisturizers. Like oils. They only seal in moisture. I know some women transitioned using scurl activator to help them be able to comb it better. (I used liquid hair mayo by africa's best which I think led to my not having much breakage) Always use the widest tooth comb you can find. And maybe experimenting with the no poo method. Meaning don't wash with shampoo. Conditioner can work just fine. (yes it's true) if you still are not so sure about it, add some lemon juice to it or use vo5 clarifying conditoner kiwi and lime. Shampoo tends to strip the hair. Leading you to continually have to fight the battle of dry hair.

there are also some great websites to help you:

motowngirl.com

nappturality.com

both have advice about what I have wrote about.

Neeed help with transitioning from relaxers to natural hair?

Well I will assume you have curly hair if you are using relaxers

first keep conditioning it if you have any beer around pour that on it and leave it do not wash it out the hops and wheat in beer is great for your hair and also put a leave in conditioner every day. there is also this spray you get to help the curl spray it on it is like anti frizz spray and just scrunch your hair with your hand after do not blow dry it ever.. It will be better than you know it in no time.. I was born with straight hair had a hospital stay and then came out with curly it took me a while to get used to it but them are the tricks I have found work. if you can help it do not wash it every day the number 1 problem with curly hair for some reason has less oil than other hair washing it strips the hair.. if you can go without washing and the same day pour the beer on even better.. Also if you put on a conditioner that you wash out put it on at night and comb it in and wash it out the next day hope this helps

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

i think if your hair is so bad die its like the only thing you can do

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

Everyone's natural colour always looks best on them. :)

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

Dude, just dye it. Seriously. Yeah, dying your hair can damage it, but I've been dying mine every 3-4 weeks for months now and it hasn't fallen out or anything. If you're really worried, you can ask a hair professional what you can do to keep your hair healthy, but dying your hair really isn't a big deal. I hated my natural color, too; I'm so much happier now that my hair is a color I like.

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

It depends on what color you want in your hair. If your hair is really dark and you want it lighter, ask a hair stylist on what shades would work for your skin tone.

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

It's not bad to dye your hair! It's bad to dye your hair multple times without waiting 3 monts! dying your hair wont damage it it you dont use anything extreamly harsh like 5 times in 2 weeks.

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

Professional hair stylist have a type of hair dye that doesnt hurt your hair as bad as the ones on the market. I say get your hair dyed by a professional, its worth it.

I know dying your hair is bad for it.......but what if I really hate my natural hair color? Then can I dye it??

I've been dying it for years, and it still looks fine. I use L'Oreal Preference, and the conditioner it comes with actually leaves it softer after wards. Just use a shampoo and conditioner designed for dyed hair, it it will stay in good shape.

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

I look like I'm 13, but I'm 16. I didn't really get any help on my last question...at all. Just anyone, tell me if you think long natural hair will make me look younger, or if a style will make me look how I should..? if that makes sense..no, didn't think so..oh well

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

u can still have long hair and have it like styled..

get it layered

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

Longer hair is associated with being young... that is why a lot of people keep their hair that way... so yes a shorter or more styled hair cut will make you appear older ...but make sure you like it. hope this is of more help..

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

Leave it long and style it up sometimes for a different look or for special occasions.'

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

I would keep the long hair, but have it styled somehow.

*****i m de best aMonG de reSt...*****

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

cant tell because i cant see a pic of u

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

It depends on if you think long hair makes you look good. But i would go with a style. My friend got her hair cut in a style and it makes her look older than she is. I would suggest getting like a magazine or something with many different hair styles and pick one that you like, or pick two, and modify one with the other.

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

Firstly, from what i've heard from a lot of guys (and comments on my own VERY long hair)... (I'm 18, btw) guys LOVE long long hair that is neat. So I really hope that you do keep your hair long! Secondly, if it's not already, you may want to highlight your hair - which will definitely make you look that much more older. My hair is a brownish sort of color, and I use Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Multi-Lights in Lightest Auburn to highlight it. It looks AWESOME! Thirdly, I don't know how often you put your hair up and all, but do you still use those little clippies and all that plastic junk for your hair? They make you look younger, too - so make sure you don't use 'em. Also, if you are putting your hair up, pull it all back tight, and don't have sweeping hairs at the front. Everyone says I look like i'm at least 20 when I do that. Then lastly, it's pretty much ALL in the makeup! HOLY CRAP! I see all these middle schoolers running around lookin' like they can get in the club! They look like they're at least 18!!! And they've all got quite a bit of makeup on, which makes it misleading. So i dunno if you use makeup or not, but if you should try using a black liquid liner in black to try and get the "Angelina Jolie" eyes... just remember, thin near the inner corner of your eyes, and thicker near the outer edge - and extend the liner a little further at the outer corner. (Go have a look at some of Angelina's pics with liquid liner - they look awesome!) And if you screw up - don't worry - wet a q-tip, smoosh it, and fix up your mistakes! Put some mascara on top and a weeee little bit on the bottom (no bottom liner!!!), and opt for NATURALS as far as eyeshadow - browns, beige, and the works. Light shimmery color near the eyebrow, medium color on the lid, and darkest at the crease! You can't go wrong!!! Have fun and hope this helps! (Oh, and it also could be the way you dress... dunno... but dress a little sexier, but not slutty!!!)

Goodluck!

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

I think you should keep your long hair but get tons of layers in it of all lengths! That would help you look 16. Something else that may help is maybe updating your style. You may have a perfectly good style but I don't know you, but that may be something that will help! Hope this helps!!!

Should I have long natural hair or a hairstyle..?

Long, natural hair is simply beautiful. It is easy to take care of, easy to style and let's face it. The guys love long hair.

You can get variety and style by doing different braids and pretty updos.

If you cut a bunch of layers you will just have to grow them out and layers are a pain when you are trying to do braids and updos. Keep it simple.

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

What is your response to natural hairstyles (i.e. dreadlocks, afros, etc)? Has anyone treated you different from when you had a relaxer to you now having a natural hair style?

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

I think that natural hairstyles are beautiful on our brothers and sisters. I have gone back and forth over the idea of going natural...(which is so much healthier for our hair, in my opinion), but get this: Its always another sister or brother who belittles the natural hairstyle. When I did wear braids, our other brothers and sisters thought it was SO pretty, but if i bring up the subject of loc's, then brothers and sisters go "Braids are okay sometimes, but locs are so permanant....and besides, it just doesn't Look well-kempt"

Personally, I think that we have gotten so caught up in what society and the fashion industry deems "beautiful", that we try to conform to their idea of beauty instead of what makes us beautiful.

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

People have treated me different since I went natural about 2 yrs ago. For me my natural hair is who, I Am! it grows out this way and why should I constantly have to slap a perm on this to fit in with the world. I DON'T! and I'M NOT! Report It

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

Im a black male with dreadlocks, 6'2" 250. I get respect and i give respect!

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

I had just recently had the relaxer that was in my hair removed. I think people havent judged me from my hair which is naturally soft and straight anyways. I think as long as your hair is presentable and decent looking you will not get eyebrows

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

I think that natural hairstyles belong to my people and I love them. I'm about to get my hair done in dreads right now. I think they're authentic and pure to the African culture. I've never got treaten differently because of my hair.

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

I am gonna have natural hair soon because I am growing my hair out so I haven't had much reaction yet. However I LOVE natural hair. It is so Unique and Versatile. Also it reminds me that there are some people that love their natural selves.

:o)

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

I love them, matter of fact I'm working on it and for Trini-Haitian, what do you mean that your hair is longer than African Americans?

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

Some of the people who responded to me oddly and disapprovingly where other Black people. Perhaps it was scary and too bold of a statement, and one which they could not undertake, to embrace one's natural beauty and "return to your roots" so to speak.

I have locs and find them much easier to maintain than my days of "frying, dyeing and laying it to the side."

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

Yes since i took out my perm and turned it natural people has treated me different. I work with white people so in my industry of work this was really weird for me to do. But they know i work well so they have nothing to say. But the most of the people thought i looked better with natural hair.

African American/Black people and natural hair styles?

I like the natural look. My dad used to have dreadlocks. I used to have mine in braids when I was younger but now I don't have time for that. So I got a mild relaxer just because of time issues. When I got my relaxer for the first time people were like "is that real" because I'm half Indian and Haitian and my hair is longer then an African Americans hair.

I mean that my hair is longer than an African Americans because I'm halif Indian. Most African Americans that I see have shorter hair than me.

P.S. For the person above me dreads is more of a Caribbean hairstyle not African. Most Africans have Afros or braids not dreads.
