Ways to get my hair back from black to its natural colour.?

I dyed my hair black using permanent dye (It seemed a good idea at the time) but after about a year of re-dying every month Ive decided I want my old hair colour back. (My natural hair colour is light brown)

I've read how if you dye it black it will never go back. Is this really true? Whether it is or isnt, is there anyway to make the hair colour fade using chemicals or home remedies, anything?

Any advice would be great...

Okay, first of all, the phrase "Once you go black, you never go back" Is not referring to hair dye.

Secondly, let your hair grow for about 4 to 6 weeks until you get "roots." Depending on the length of your hair, If you dye it (professionally) your natural color, you could probably be completely natural within a few months.

There's no guaranteed way to fade colored hair. If you want to try, then I'd suggest using a shampoo or conditioner that is known to be bad for colored hair.

You've just got to let it grow out and then cut it short to get your natural color back...but your hair might be a little darker for a little while.

You can try bleaching your hair but my cousin tried that and it turned auburn. You can try just to let the color grow out of your hair.

Die it a light brown, then wait for your natural color to come back. You should die it light brown first so you don't look weird with black hair and brown roots. That's probably the easiest way. To make it grow out faster get it trimmed more often then usual.

Well my best friend had dyed her hair dark brown( almost black) and her hair stylist had to perform a procedure known as "strip your hair" I know it sounds weird but they use chemicals to get rid of the permanent die so that your hair will take the dye for a lighter color. I doubt it that your natural hair will grow back to its original color but it might resemble. I remember when I use to have really pretty honey brown hair then after I dyed it, the pigments in my hair grew dark and now my hair is plain dark brown. Good luck. I suggest you just let your natural hair color grow back by not dying your hair at all. I know you might feel weird or awkward but it's so much healthier for your hair.

I had the same problem where i died my hair black from medium brown. It is very hard to get back to normal. There is a solution that I know you can get at walmart its called color be gone or something like that. But I would strongly recomend that you go to a hair stylist and let them do it. I did and it took them two times of me coming back and being treated before it got most of it out. Or if you let it grow it will grow out and you can cut the black out. Hope this helped!
