How to get back to your natural hair colour with out it being obvious?

For a few years, i have been getting blonde high-lights in my hair (my hair is naturally really dark brown) and i am sick of it- it takes like an hour to get the colours back in when they grow out every time i go to the hair-dressers and i just want to have my natural dark brown colour but dont want it to look like i just died it brown coz my mates think that my hair is basically blonde.

How can i go back to my original colour?

make the blonde go darker gradually.

get darker highlights than usual

just slowly let the blonde get dark

it may take 6 months are more

my hair used to be light-medium brown

but i gradually got it back to my natural dark brown in 6 to 7 months

Just dye it, everyone will notice, but that's a chance you have to take. Or get a color stripper.

... do it a little bit darker at a time, from blonde to dirty blonde, then to darker blonde, ect.

Find the color that's as close to your hair color as possible and color it. as your roots grow in you shouldn't be able to tell. Try L`OR`EAL hair coloring permanent dye. They have many different kind, and they all really good. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

OMG! I posted a question pretty much the same. I naturally, have brown hair, and kept getting blonde, and I couldnt stop because of the re-growth, so I got it semi permanent dyed. It washes out instead of regrowth. I want my hair brown too. All you can do is maybe get your hair thinned out, that will cut out some blonde. Or, you could get brown highlights over the blonde. Then when they grow out, you will have your brown regrowth. Good luck

You could get lowlights put in with your highlights next time... Instead of putting the blonde over your roots, your hairdresser would dye some of the highlights to a color that's a little bit lighter than your natural color... It would be a transition towards your natural color. It might cost a lot, though.

Or, next time you get your highlights touched up you could have a toner put in.. My hairdresser put highlights in that were too light for my liking (they were almost white!) and I mentioned it and she decided to put a toner over it.. It's like the dye only it sits in your hair for five or ten minutes and then gets washed out.. It basically made the highlights look more natural.

Or you could just dye it right back to your natural color in one shot, but it's likely to wash out because it's been lacking the dark color for so long, so you'll probably have to have it dyed a few times before it's actually going to stick.. Either that or your hairdresser can just dye it a little darker than your natural color in anticipation for your hair to lose some of the color, but sometimes that turns out looking just shy of black, so it might not be a great option if you're going for the less noticeable approach.

It took me forever but it was worth it.

I started getting low-lights all over and just hightlights in the top.

Then I let the underneath hair grow in dark. I slowly reduced the highlights, and now only get a couple around my face.

It was really subbtle and everyone likes it, including me. I was so over th blonde thing too.
