How can I get my hair back to my natural color???

My natural hair color is balck and since feb. 2006, I have been dying my hair an ash blonde with highlights. I got tired of seeing and paying for the regrowth, so last month I went darker to a medium brown. I wanted to go even darker, so I dyed my hair black (my natual color) with an at home kit. My problem is that my highlights or some of the medium brown has shown through my black hair. I made sure I dyed all of my hair. I want my hair to be all one color. To get back to my natural color should I:

a) Get a stripper and strip all the color from my hair

b) dye my hair black with another at home kit? (which kit is a good one?)

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!!!

Neither!

Go to a SALON!

It's the safest way to get what you want.

I agree with Miz D...

Your hair is probably not a level 1 black, very few people have truly black hair. It's possibly you are seeing your own regrowth! Get thee to a salon, they can help you match up your true natural color.

Of course your safest bet is to go to a salon, BUT... if you are going to do it at home I would just dye it again. I just did the same thing but at a salon: (she dyed my hair back to dark brown---but some of my highlights still show through.) She said to just come back and she would dye it again---that should be enough to cover them completely.

Your highlights probably showed through the black color because you may have used a temporary or semipermanent color or because of general wear and tear--washing, styling, products, environment, etc.

Do NOT put a stripper or lightener on your hair. It will damage your hair, and don't get an at-home kit, because at-home kits are not professional grade (despite what the box may say) products and may cause damage and/or not fix the problem.

Go to a salon to have this done. It will cost more than doing it at home, but it will be worth it. They will apply a color remover (this is *not* a stripper or lightener) and then apply the appropriate color.

just leave it al;one and wait for it to grow out and cut it.
