How can I get my natural hair colour back? My hair is currently a yucky bronze colour.?

I had my dark hair colour stripped 8 months ago because I wanted to go lighter. I am naturally a light ash blonde. My hairdresser stripped my colour, and it then went bright bright orange, which she got rid of by putting a semi colour over it...

I had to go back often because everytime the hair colour faded it went orange again!

Now, it's back to a very yucky artificial looking bronze shade. I have been growing it out for a while and I have about 2 inches of regrowth. I want to get my hair back to it's natural colour, or very close. The salon has suggested i get blonde highlights, because colouring it won't work. They insist that it will look pretty because it will tone down the bronzey/orange shades. I'm just not sure! Won't you still be able to see the orange? I was hoping I could just dye my hair the same colour as my roots, and then maybe get some highlights.

please help. It's very important to me.

i am in the same exact boat as you!! i dyed my hair a super light blonde about 6 months ago.. and i am sick of it. i had to get the roots done every couple of months.. and it just gets annoying. and when the hair starts to grow out even more the blonde starts to look more orange and fake! ugh! and i am a natural light ash blonde as well! i was talking with my hairstylist last week when i went in to get a trim, and i told her that i just want my natural color back. she said while my hair is still very dammaged from the processing of my previous dyes, i need to wait it out a little bit longer and get my hair healthier again. she gave me a trim and a deep condition and told me that i could come back in a month for a new color. she suggested the best way for me to get back to my natural color is to dye it one shade darker than the natural, and then get some golden blonde highlights. she said that it would be the best possible option as far as coloring my hair without completely damaging it, and that it would also be really pretty and natural looking.

so my suggestion would be to just get a trim and a deep condition for now.. let your hair breathe and rest for awhile. in a month (i know it's a pain to wait.. ack!) you should go back in and tell them you really want it to be natural. try suggesting to them what my hair stylist told me. and no, you don't want to put anymore lighter highlights in your hair.. it will emphasize the orange even more!!

i hope this helps! hang in there girl, i'm right there with ya!

I have dark brown almost black hair. I have dyed my hair many colors. About a few months ago I dyed my hair this copper red color. Then I tried to go jet black. Well it lasted about a month. My hair is now a dark brown. I suggest that you dye your hair darker than your natural color, as the color will wash out anyway. They don't tell you that when you strip your hair. Oh and yeah the orange will still show through if you just highlight it. If you do decide to go this way, get foil highlights all over as dense as possible. This way the blonde will overpower the orange. In this case most people won't even notice it! Happy coloring!

It's not as easy as slapping on some brown dye, but with these pointers, you can get your natural color back. When you bleach your tresses, you strip away the rainbow of tones (bits of red, yellow and blue) that make up a rich brown hair hue, says Brian Bojarski, co-owner of Industry, a salon in Syracuse, New York. So you have to put those colors back in to re-create the vibrancy. To do this, pick out a semipermanent hair-color kit in a warm brown shade (look for the word golden in the shade name). Try L'Or鑼卆l ColorSpa Moisture Actif, in Amber Lightest Golden Brown, $6.29. Let the dye process for as long as the directions indicate, then rinse out. After your hair dries, apply another semipermanent dye that matches your roots exactly. This should bring you back to your beautiful natural hue.
