How do I keep my natural hair from fading?

My hair actually started at a very dark brown. Almost a black.

Back in elementary school, it was a very dark brown. As I got older, it started to turned a little lighter, but then it just stopped. After my first year of high school, I noticed it was now a lighter brown shade. Still considered a dark brown, but it's not as dark as before. I'm in my second year of high school and it's actually brown now. Not dark brown. Just brown. I'm afraid of it getting any lighter. It would look weird since I'm Asian. Everybody is starting to asking me if i dyed my hair. Is there a way that I can prevent my hair color from getting any lighter? Is there a natural way to slowly darken my hair again?

Is there any natural way that I can darken it?

Somebody answered my question previously with eat dark foods. Somehow, I doubt that will work.

It depends on whether or not you are doing things to contribute to your hair color getting lighter.

Things that will lighten hair:

chlorine from swimming pool

sun exposure

lack of moisture/dry hair

heat damage from blow-drying or using a flat-iron

Ways to combat hair fading:

1. Wet your hair, apply a conditioner and wear a swimming cap before getting into the pool.

2. Wear a hat or spray on sunscreen.

3.Change the way you part your hair %26amp; the way you wear it so different layers are exposed.

4. Allow your hair to air dry or use heat appliances sparingly.

5. Deep condition your hair regularly to keep the cuticle healthy.

Other suggestions:

1. Rinse your hair with rosemary "tea." Warm some water, steep a few sprigs of fresh rosemary for 5-10 minutes and let the water cool to a safe, comfortable temperature. Pour over your hair as a final rinse. Squeeze out your hair and let dry.

Rosemary is said to help darken the hair and condition it.

2. Condition your scalp with a small amount of jojoba oil. It is non-comedogenic and is most like our own skins' lipid barrier. (www.desertessence.com)

3. Consider using henna . It is a natural powder you mix with water to make a paste %26amp; comes in different shades. (http://www.hennaforhair.com) It is available at some health food stores. (Note: henna is also used for temporary body tattoos. You want one for specific use on your hair.)

4. Consider products designed for colored dark hair. (ex. www.shikai.com, www.pantene.com)

No, your hair is going it's own way with it's own hairy little feet carrying it to whatever color it likes.

The only way to get back to your dark hair is to dye it. But don't use any dye, they sell special facial hair dyes. Use those.

well to prevent it from getting lighter..you can A.) use a good conditioner and when u put it in ur hair in the shower leave it in there for a couple minutes..that will let it soak in and replenish %26amp;%26amp; repair your hair...and B.) stay out of the sun as much as possible cause sun naturaly lightins hair..or try to find a spray that has SPF.. so it acts as a sunblock on your hair...but as for the making it darker again the only thing you could do is die it!

Nope eatin dark food won't turn it dark. Shampoos that are harsh to the hair can lighten it. Use good shampoos. Ask your hairstylist which ones are good. The sun will also lighten it. Wear a hat. Have you tried a semi-permanent color. It gradually gets lighter but you could color it dark--it lasts about 6 weeks before your hair is back to its natural color. Deep conditioning will cause it to go a little darker. Get a good salon conditioner, put hot, wet towels around it. That will make the conditioner go deeper--and darken more.
