I'm blondish (very much as a child) and I'm sure my hair is getting darker. I'm 26 now. There is quite a contrast because I highlight my hair but is it the case that natural hair colour does get darker? And if yes, why??

well , when u are newly born the head is stil growing and still ur hormones are... ur hair color blond isnt the real color yet...as u are fully grown now thats exactly ur hair color....
and as for a normal case the HAIR COLOR LIGHTEN WHEN PPL GROW...believe me, due to some weather changement and washing , and going to th beach and especially the sun...so normally the hair lighten not the opposite :)

probably has something to do with how much pigmentation or whatever in are hair over time it becomes more abundant? idk...all i know is once i was a very rich strawberry blonde, and now my natural is just all ashy-blonde

Omg, I was wondering that also! My hair used to be light brown now it's borderline black. You can only notice but a tad of brown color. So weird.
