Transitioning from relaxed to natural hair (again)??????

I currently have a relaxer, but i'm sick of having one b/c my hair isn't as thick and breaks more when it's relaxed. i did have natural hair when i was in high school, but it was after having single braids for 2 years. now i am in college, and i don't want to maintain relaxed hair, but i don't want braids again either. when transitioning, do you have to have braids or a weave? my hair is too short for a twa..and i don't really like the other alternative styles that i've read about and seen online. if i don't get braids, and just cut my relaxed hair off gradually and my natural grows in, will that be okay??? i really don't want to get braids again, but i'll do it if that's my only option.

here's pics

Transitioning from relaxed to natural hair (again)??????

Hello-

I decided to go natural August of 2005. I wore a combination. Most of the time I went to the beauty shop at least every two weeks and got it deep conditioned (sometimes I did this myself) and flat ironed (during the fall and winter) and wore it in like a body wrap.

I didn't cut the perm off until February of this year. I also wore braids when it was hot, because it is harder to maintain a flat ironed style in the hot summer heat (plus the two different textures will discourage you). Sometimes I would put it up in braids because I knew I would either cut the perm off and regret it or perm my hair and regret it later. For me personally, braids and flat iron were the answer.

Hope this helps...

ask your stylist shell probably say that you need to just grow it out or cut the relaxer out. But if your hair is that short that might mena shaving your head.....................

I dont think your hair is too short for a twa, since you already have short hair I think you will look fine with even shorter hair. I say...wait 2 months b4 you b/c so you could at least hair an inch of new growth ...during this time just straighten your roots. You dont have to get braids or a weave, its too hot for that anyway! After you b/c just brush you hair nightly and spray a little botanicals oil ( best stuff i ever bought by soft %26amp; beautiful!) on it and tye it down with a scarf and let your natural waves/curls show!!

Cutting gradual will work. You could do a braid out on your own hair or roller set.
