I have natural hair. It ihas been this way for about 4 yrs now. I am getting tired of all the manual

Any suggestions? My hair is VERY thick and a decent length...shoulder length when curly/natural; bra strap length when straight. Currently I twist my hair after washing it and take the twists out after a couple of days. When this gets old, I start all over again!

The length and texture sounds exactly like my hair. If you are open to a minimal amount of chemical, I would consider the texturizing technique. Get this done ONLY BY A PROFESSIONAL. Take a very mild, conditioning formula relaxer and very quickly comb it through the hair. If the hairstylist can do it fast enough, it should only take about 5-10 minutes for the entire head. As soon as this is done, immediately wash it out. You will still have your natural curl pattern (unlike with a full relaxing process), but it will just be easier to manage and the pattern is more, well, relaxed. I get this done every three months, sometimes I can stretch it to five. Good Luck.

I have natural curly shoulder length hair and it is very hard to manage. I have had a relaxer put in to straighten my hair, but it is hard to keep up with. When your roots start to grow out they are curly and the rest of your hair is straight....that does not work so well. But now I use a CHI flat iron to straighten out my hair when I want to wear it straight. Good Luck!! I hope that this information helps you out.

Man you got a lot of hair.

Do a shake and go. In the shower after shampooing or a good conditioning, stand from under the water and shake your head vigorously. The curls will clump together. Then you can pull it all back with a hairband or a scarf. I do it all the time.

I used to hate my curly hair but now that I'm older I realise that there is something to be said for not having to do a darn thing except wash it.

Learn to love it and you'll be happier

i wear puffs a lot. i use black pantyhose cut up and depending on what look i am trying to achieve, i wear them down or up. one strand twists are cute. i do different variations of the twist out. i cornrow the front, but put two strand twists on the end of the cornrow and put two strands all over my head. After that starts to go bad, i twist out. when the twist out is starting to get old, i put a water based conditioner in my hair. since my hair is really kinky, it draws up and gives a sort of gary dourdan look. sometimes i'll add the pantyhose wrap to it. just experiment with it.
