Im in the process of going natural. I love trying new colors in my hair, but my hair would always break when it was permed due to the dye. Will Dye break my natural hair??? Please help!

The reason why your hair would brak after you permeed it is because you colored your hair and then permed it....you're actually supposed to perm it, wait two weeks and then color it.

If you lightened or bleached your hair then yes your hair either melted off or became a very gross slimy mess of hair since bleaching strips of the outter layers of the hair shaft.

I'm 100% against the creme relaxers they do way too much damage to hair that is usually already fragile and it makes me happy to hear that you're going natural.

Dyeing your natural hair will do some damage to it but it won't be anywhere near as bad as when it was permed.....unless you over do it.

I have level 3 mixed hair and I do lighten my hair but I always make sure to keep it moisturized, well condtioned and use this strengthening treatment by Aphogee every 6 weeks.

I don't think so. I'm 13 and I've been dying my hair for over 2 years. And it's perfectly healthy. I only dye it ever 6 months, so maybe that's why. I guess if you dye it every 2-3 months, then yeah it'll get damaged.

i think once you perm your hair its already damaged, so if you color on top of that you're just gonna make it worse

As long as you don't do it too often (give about 3 months break between dye jobs) and you take good care of it (eg. deep conditioning, hot oil treatments) it should be fine. Bleaching will damage your hair more than dying though. Maybe you just have naturally weak hair, so it's best to get a consulattion from your hair stylist.

If you're dying it darker, it's much less harsh than if you were lightening it (using bleach). It sounds like you have fairly frail hair, so make sure to use a heavy conditioner afterwards.

as long as you condition your regularly, have it cut every 6-8 wks and dont use bleach to often you should be fine, perms are the same but its when you start perming and dying at the same time that your hair might dry out. just take care.

well it goes both ways-- yes, coloring your hair does damage it because you are putting strong chemicals into it, but it isn't as bad as a perm, those are way worse and coloring doesn't break your hair. over time though if you color alot your hair naturally becomes thicker though. i just got mine colored and i love mine too, hope this helped!
