Hair extensions pulling out natural hair?

I have great lengths glued in hair extensions. My natural hair is very fine and shoulder length.

I am worried that my hair extensions are pulling out my natural hair, I noticed when I was getting my first set of maintence when my hairdresser took them out the glue pulled alot of my own hair out. My hairdresser told me that it was the extension hair stuck onto my own hair, but I think it was my natural hair coming out.

Im so scared that once I get them all taken out my hair will look very very thin and damaged :(

What can I do? If I was to get my extensions taken out once they needed maintence, would it be ok to get a few clip-in extensions? And if so, what would be the best ones.

First after getting the glue in extensions taken out I would wait at least month for your hair to grow back natural. Make sure to wash and condition weekly. NO RELAXERS/PERMS! Keep as much heat off of the hair as possible.

When a few months up may I suggest getting the sew in weaves. I get those and my hair has grown tremendously because of them. You will get some hair loss but that's because you haven't had the chance to comb/brush your real hair which is braided up in a sew in.

For more info go to the web forum and read the threads under extensions/weaves,

Oh honey... get that kind of glue out of your hair and leave it off. I'm only telling you this from experience, so you don't suffer as I did. I wore the glued in extensions for about 3 years, and like you, my natural hair came out each time I had them taken out and put back in. Guess what? One day while having them removed, my hair literally fell out...I was almost completely bald and had to wear a wig for a year.

The reason this happens is because the glue doesn't let your growing hair near your scalp "breathe." As a result, your hair breaks and breaks until you finally have no more left.

I highly suggest you either get your extensions weaved (braided) in...or how about the fusion method? The fusion method is where the hair is wax-glued toward the ends of your hair (rather than near your scalp). I've had this done, too, and the glue was totally unnoticeable...not to mention my hair moved more freely.

I tried the clip-ons once, and the hair looked really nice. However, because my hair is also fine and thin, it was hard to get the clips to stay fastened. %26lt;sigh%26gt; If only we were all born with long, beautiful hair, right?

I hope this helps. Good luck! :)

Yes, you lose hair each time. And sometimes you lose hair before the maintenance. I had the same problem. I just had them removed and never went back. It looks fantastic for awhile, and I miss the volume and length, but really you can't beat just having your own natural hair...thats healthy and yours and not on the dressing room floor.
